“Flowers in the Rain” is a new Todd Edwards & the Depressionaires song that is now available here on the official Todd Edwards Tumblr Blog.  Look for a full-band/iTunes version of this track in the not so distant future.  Tonight’s solo version features a solo Todd on guitar/harmonica and was recorded today (3-30-2011) at the Depressionaire Studio (currently located in the Jozart Center for the Arts).  More on the way.

Flowers in the Rain

Capo on the 1st fret

D7                               G

I saw the dust glide through the town

D7                                 G

Always the finest when it sticks in your teeth.

C                              G

I heard a radio faintly comin’ in

C                             G

with all of the voices faded out

C                                                G

but all those new words were surely the first to play

C——->slide up to D——->C

Flowers in the rain, flowers in the rain

The Winter she warms with only her whiskey and grace,

while the Summer she runs after only a drink.

but neither resides in April’s pouring rain

or the wind of November’s desolate place.

I’ve had my share, with what I could spare to give

Flowers in the rain, flowers in the rain

bridge:

    “high Am”         Am        G

Set it high up, upon your cross

    D7                                                  G

but bear it alone with a smile wrapped against your chin

    “high Am”                   Am        G

I wish you well, and that can’t run dry…

Flowers in the rain,  flowers in the rain

D7                               G

I saw the dust glide through the town

D7                                 G

Always the finest when it sticks in your teeth.

C——->slide up to D——->C

Flowers in the rain, flowers in the rain, flowers in the rain

More to come…

“Days Are Lost”, Words & Music copyright 2003 Todd Edwards, All Rights Reserved.

Sing me a new song, I’m lost down the tracks

down that big river again.

I never remember what I thought I knew,

each time it’s so hard to look back.

Days aren’t lost if the Sun don’t shine,

Days are lost when they’re won.

We’ve solved all the mysteries, we haven’t a clue

each day will grow harder in time.

The price that we’ve payed will never amount

to the interests you have to pursue.

Cast all your votes, the candidate’s prime

for the taking, and we’re all alone.

Big money markets and how did you lose?

welfare will steal your last dime.
